First PC Build...

I was wondering how it could be improved as this is my first ever build! I want to try and keep it under $350 FYI. 

The purposes for this PC are as follows:

1) Light productivity (i.e. able to run Word smoothly pretty much)

2) Gaming. My main focus is to run CS:GO smoothly as well as being able to play Netplay for Super Smash Bros. Melee (see here for details: https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/34kmea/playing_melee_on_pc_online/ )

I would go for a AMD A10 chip over GT 710... o3o (I am fairly sure the A10s iGPU is better than 710...)

i would go for a used ebay build the a10 is decent at best its old and not worth it.

Buy used parts if you gonna build such a low end PC you might as well as get higher performance for the same price, not to mention that building such under-power PC will make it impossible to sell youll only get rid of it if you donate it to someone in need.

Yeah, no. Just because you have a graphics card doesn't mean you can play games. The gt710 is a gpu meant for a cheap display output and cannot play games past minimum settings 720p.

why keep sticking with ddr3 ram? its more expensive. get a 1x8gb stick of ddr4 and a cheaper motherboard. also, that psu is trash, the antec basiq i linked will be better.

I agree about the PSU.  I don't think it's a good idea to cheap out on a PSU, since it could ruin your whole rig if it went bad.  It's going to take you over-budget, but this would be a much better choice IMO.  You get a better brand, better efficiency. and it's semi-modular to help with cable management.

For the RAM? 2x4gb = $40... 1x8gb = $42...

and you're sacrificing future expansion for $1-2? some games want more than 8gb of ram nowadays, you'll end up spending more in the future if you want to upgrade to 16gb of ram. just get 1x8gb, it'll be easier for you.

I've heard about Zen... Since I'm not in a huge rush to build I am leaning towards that. Do people know when Zen will come out?

I personally would grab a Athlon X4 or i3! :3
