If budget is not a concern, the Asus RT-N66U or AC68U will be great.

Your speed test shows that you're with sky broadband? Not sure if you know this already but it's against terms of contract to use a router which isn't their own, and using a different one can prove difficult due to their ISP settings.

As for extending range, I recently had an outbuilding converted to an office and my wireless needed extending, I had a netgear WN802T v2 lying around which I used as an access point in the office to provide wireless access in the office and the rest of the garden.

The n66u has the best range of any bgn router I've used before.

I've not used an ac wifi router before so I can't comment on the ac68u.

100 ft shouldn't be too far for the n66u. If the distance to your garden gives you choppy connection using your homes wifi... I'd probably just use my 4g lte phone's hotspot feature [i pay a little extra each month to Verizon for this but is worth it to me].

I use my phones hotspot feature if my ISP has an outage or if power temporarily goes out while I'm working.

No worries, thought I'd check! Not sure how strict Sky are, but I know getting the username and password for your line isn't easy, and if you ever did have problems with your broadband, sky would refuse to help until you put their router back on.

You can still use an access point or wireless extender of some kind if your wifi don't reach as far as you need, I'm no expert on which is the best to get with what's on the market at the moment.

Okay sorry to be a noob but what will i benefit from this?

Better range so your connection will only flake out at further distance.

It also will have better throughput (data speeds) over WiFi compared to your old router.

I upgraded to an ASUS RT-AC66U earlier this year and it was worth every penny. The RT-AC66U covers at least double the range of my old Netgear WNDR3300. We even used a wireless repeater/extender which was garbage and a nightmare to deal with. I haven't used the RT-AC68U, but I'm sure its even better than the RT-AC66U.

We have a pretty large house. The router is located in the basement in a corner. Our office is on the main floor on the opposite end of the house with numerous walls and doors. Our wireless devices receive a constant connection and never drop. I get full coverage on the second story of our home. I even get coverage in our driveway and on the back porch.

I cannot convey how much of an upgrade buying the RT-AC66U was for our family. Especially with all of the skype calls, video streaming, multiple devices, downloads, uploads, etc. I would recommend it to anyone that has the money for it in their budget.

That would be a problem. I'm sure you can still build your own wireless router somehow.

I've personally had many issues with Netgear, so I cannot recommend them for personal reasons.

The current router I use is a Cisco branded Linksys. It runs well.
