KL w/ Z270 Features vs HaswellE x99 Features

I've been posting and looking around a lot in the last two days, and I'm still torn on KL 7700k vs x99 HaswellE 5820k 

I have everything I need in terms for storage and peripherals and want to spend under 1500USD for a upgrade from my z77 i5 3570k @5.0GHz build I've had and upgraded for 4 1/2 years. Planning out a computer with a color scheme and features before hand is more involved now then it was when I was still a kid and built my first PC by just finding the most recommend parts 4 years ago and just going with it haha.

I know x99 has been out for awhile now and some of the x99 motherboards where made a couple years ago since the adoption of x99 has been around longer then say, z170 and z270. My question is if I went with an x99 build with a 'newer' ASUS x99 board (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132831) (it still has an aura header!) would I lose some cool new feature that has been around with the zXXX asus lineups?

The Maximus IX boards are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice but 5820K will likely destroy the 7700K in most things, so depends if you want looks or performance.

This shocked me. The 7600k matching a 4790k in places. That's nuts.
