Been looking around for a new GPU , currently got a GTX 970 good little runner but I've just moved form 1080p gaming to 1440p .

Thinking of getting a GTX 1070 but do you think it worth the hold out until GTX 1080 ti comes out .?

P.S I support Team green sorry :P

Personally I wouldn't upgrade at all for this series since you're coming from a 970. Wait another few months for may/June and we'll have the new cards coming with a range of changes. It's not as if you are in dramatic need of a new GPU since it's not as extreme upgrade as going to UHD.

Think it would be best to selling the 970 and add alittle cash and get a GTX 980 ti.?

are you stuggling to play games id say not as i have the same gpu, are your frame rate suffering? doubt it bet there still all over 60fps on all games do you play on a panel faster than 60hz again dont think so although maybe? but still if your on 60hz then have fps over 60fps is just gonna cause tearing and stuttering so ye pointless i lock all my games to 65fps as im  a 60hz panel ( i do 65hz as i found if you lock it to 60hz it will dip under alot of the time)

but ye basicly answer is no need to upgrade my general rule is upgrade every 4 years as thats normaly the amount of time it takes for the upgrades and improvments be worth the £1k+ new system as if you look its only really now that 2nd gen i7 is starting to be no good for gaming so ye. people will probs disagree with me on this but there we go

Nope. Just deal with the 970 for now. Lower a setting or 2 top get a playable frame rate. Wait for what VEGA turns out like and nvidia pull out their mystery magical bag

-Save pennies for next 6 months.

-Aquire new GPU fresh from the soldering bench.

-Crank up them settings and enjoy high FPS.

-Know you've made a worthwhile upgrade cause dat game framrate gains knowing you'll be at the top of the market for a year

Don't bother upgrading for the sake of it. Unless it's an unplayable 10fps sick inducing experience...ain't worth it fam <3

I have an R9 390x which has comparable performance (in some games) to the 970. I play at 1440p on a 144hz monitor. I don't think the gains I would get by upgrading to the current gen of gpu would equal the cost so will be sitting this gen out and see what happens next gen.

Probably not worth it, unless you are not getting enough fps at 1440p to your liking?

You can always spend hundreds of dollars to get 200+ fps on ultra settings, but you don't really need that.

Money-wise it is always smarter to skip a generation. You would lose a lot of money selling your 970 now, and need to spend a lot more on a 1070 or 1080.

I upgraded from 970 to 1070 and can say you will notice a huge improvement.  The 1070 will push well above 60fps in any game at 1440p.
