Ram speeds on MSIO Z97s SLI Kirait

Hello guys, hope ya'll having a better year so far,

So i currently have 2 kits in my mobo; a corsair 2x4gb ddr3 kit clocked at 2400 MHz and a ballistix crucial sport 2x4gb at 1600 MHz

I am looking to switching out the crucial ram to a similar corsair kit at 2400 MHz but im concerned about the speed compatability as the specification sheet seems somewhat odd,

basically it will say 1066/1333/1600/1866*/2000*/2133*/2200*/2400*/2600*/2666*/2800*/3000*/3100*/3200*/3300*(*OC) MHz

So does this mean it can only run a speed of 2400 MHz if its overclocked from an slower card or a faster factor 2400 MHz  card will work normally?

Thanks a million for your time

1066/1333/1600 are all supported by default. Anything above that will require an XMP profile to be set up. That's basically what it means. If you have a set of 2400MHz RAM installed, enable XMP in the BIOS and set RAM speed to 2400MHz, simple as that. (though, all sticks installed need to be capable of 2400MHz for that to work, so you'd likely need to wait until you got a new kit that matches your current 2400MHz modules.)

Well I think it's becase those speeds are not base speeds and you have to enable XMP or AMP for the ram to get to those speeds.

Just a guess becase on all my 1866 ram it would run at 1600 unless I enabled XMP.

But this is just a guess I can be 100% wrong
