Gaming Laptop or PC?

dead.Pixel

So, in a couple of years i'll go to college overseas and probably major in computer science or mechanical engineering. I currently have an HP Pavilion 15 ab laptop. If i have around $1300 to spend, should i buy a gaming laptop or build a pc? Which one would suit the college life best?

i graduated from mechanical engineering i can tell you that a cheap laptop and paper for notes, also bring a recording device. if you have big assignment you can do it at home on you desktop. i personally was lucky to have a 2013 15 inch MacBook pro which also served me vary well.

Here's the best budget GTX 1060 laptop on the market. It's also the thinnest you can go with the Pascal laptops without sacrificing cooling performance. It features a GTX 1060, a Core i7 6700HQ, 16GB of RAM, a 256gb SSD and a 1TB HDD, a 17" 1080p IPS panel, and Windows 10; all for $1350.

The reviews are the best out of any 1060 laptop, and Eluktronics has quickly become known for their absolutely stellar customer service. It doesn't seem like you can go wrong with this.

most big assignments are group project or home project just try your best. don't get a gaming computer for university carrying around a brick is a pain.

is an i7 6700 really needed? and if i build a pc it'll be from scratch. so i'm considering the cost of keyboards, speakers, optical drive, etc. probably the only peripherals i won't buy is mouse and headset

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3R7Vf8 i made a few adjustment to deXxterlab97. gaming laptop are stupid for university as they have to be carried around. The build i adjusted for 1080p 60 fps gaming you don't need an ultimate gaming experience just focus on your study and save money much as you can.

A different GPU. That's a reference model. They are loud and can distract studies

Snip

You can swap my original 1070 with a 1060 but it won't be a good card to drive 1080p ultrawide. The PSU you picked is not decent too. Stick with my S12II originally.
