Virtual RAM?

Guest

So I did this on my old PC and it seemed to speed it up a bit, but that's probably because it was terrible. SO I am talking about when you emulate say 8gb of your ssd space as RAM, but I'm wondering would I gain or lose performance here because RAM is faster than even SSD's so I was wondering if losing 4-8gb of my SSD space is worth it to make it into "RAM".

Unless your ram usage is hitting how much you have installed in the pc, it won't make a difference anyway.

Well it gets to 40-50 percent when not in a game and watching a yt video.

Although it barely goes lower and is around 40 percent when I close it.

If you already have an SSD, chances are Windows has its pagefile located on it, so there's no reason to force do it.

Virtual memory is only hit when your system ram is over capacity. If you aren't consistently over 90% of your system rams capacity there'll be absolutely no difference.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

It's the Windows file that stores its virtual memory.

You can access it by finding the System settings (Win+X -> System on Windows 10), then clicking advanced system settings > Performance > Advanced > Virtual Memory

The OS already does this, and i wouldn't touch it. Its called swap or virtual memory.

there was a company that sold software in the 90s that claimed to increase ram. All they did was increase the page file. They got screwed over by the FTC or whatever US government body is that shuts down fraudulent business.
