If you want to stay on your current motherboard, this is pretty much your best option under $100.  Not terribly fast but at least it's got plenty of cores for the type of stuff you want to do.

Side note: motherboard may need a bios update but it should work.

Disregard that, I messed up.  That CPU is FM2+.

CPUs that are supported on your board are listed here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/A55ME/HelpDesk_CPU/

If you want to go the dual core route I would wait for Kaby Lake to come out next month.  Rumor is the next Pentium cpus will be hyper threaded, which will make it a killer $70 cpu.  Can't confirm that to be true, but the kaby lake pentium will be your fastest dual core for under $100 either way.  There's also Zen coming but idk when it's lower end stuff is due to hit.

If you build right now then a h110 motherboard and pentium or i3 would do fine.

If I wait for the kaby lake, would I need to change my mobo?

My current cpu is a AMD A6-6400 APU , would I be able to game decently until I upgrade?? Im planning to put an RX 460 gpu

Depends on the games.  Most recent AAA games like Witcher 3, GTA V, Rise of Tomb Raider, BF1, etc. favor either a quad core or hyper-threaded dual core.  And probably won't run very smoothly despite the video card upgrade.

Games running on source engine, DX10, or competitive games will dual cores in mind with run decently.

If you want to go the cheapo route, You can use an Athlon 760k, it is what I am using now and its not too bad. It will go into a fm2 socket.

You can get em on EBAY for 50 dollars usd.

Also if you do get this I would recommend getting a aftermarket cooler as this chip is a little warm.

I mean, to be fair, he did ask for under $100.
For your platform?  This is pretty much the best you can get.  It also comes with the nice AMD Wraith cooler.

But I would really recommend holding off until Kaby Lake and Zen are released.

*EDIT* I initially recommended the 860K but I don't think your mobo supports it so go with the 760k.

How long can you wait is the biggest question; I would first try said games on your current PC and see how they perform. If they are playable at low/mid settings with 30fps+, then just wait for Kaby Lake and Zen. Save up, preferably to build something with an i5 quad core or the equivalent from Zen, depending on performance. If your current PC can't play those games, and you can't wait a few months then I suggest you get the 760K, it should hold you over for those games until you save up.

Kaby Lake and Zen will most likely cost more than what they are worth at release, probably be a month or 2 before prices balance out so keep that in mind if you chose to wait. If you can play said games on the current PC, I suggest waiting though.
