1060 or 1070 for Video Editing?

Question's in the title, 8gig versions of both cards. The reason I'm asking this is because the 1070 costs nearly twice as much as the 1060, and I'm not sure if the difference in video rendering speed is that much. 1080p videos mostly... occasional 4k

1060 only has 3 or 6 GB models.

1070 only comes with 8 GB. Just FYI.

I was thinking about the 6gig version of the 1060. It's getting late here. ^^

Depends on what software you use. But a 1060 6gb would probably be fine. If your software has really good support for hardware acceleration, than a 1070 would be better. If it's support isn't that great, then it won't really help you.

I use Premiere Pro.

I think you should go with the 1060 and afford a nice 6 cores (6800k) with the difference. Sounds ok?

So true it hurts

Sounds great, but I've already got the 6700. :P

ike I said, I think that the 1060 will probably still be fine. Until you're doing *all* 4K, the 1060 is probably fine. Keep the money until you want to buy something even *higher* (like the 1080)

It's 1060 then. Such a difference in price is ridiculous anyway.

Yeah, a lot of it depends on the codec you use as well. Some video codecs see massive gains from GPU, some are all CPU only.

I would hunt for used 980 Ti cards. They work for great for rendering (Though I use mine for iray). My 980 Ti outpaces my 1070 for work use. EVGA B-Stock had some 980 Tis for $299 when they were on sale (not any more though).
