I'm planning on buying a new GPU. At the moment I have a MSI N560Ti- Hawk. Which is underperforming for battlefield 4 and upcoming games.

I'm looking for a card somewhere between 200 - 370 dollars/euro's. I'm sort of looking for a good decently cheap card like my 560 ti was back in the day.

I have looked at a 760/770 but i'm not sure which one is best to buy.

Rest of specs:

i5 2500k @4.2

8gig ram 1600Mhz

Asus Maximus IV Gene-z mobo

650w power supply.

Do i also have to buy a new PSU for the new gpu?

If you have some input, thanks in advance.

CPU:

Intel Core i5 2500k - Motherboard: Asus maximus iv gene-z - RAM: 2x Corsair Vengeance Blue 4GB DDR3-1600 CL9 - GPU: ASUS GTX 770 DirectCU II
Case: Coolermaster Centurion 5 II - Storage: Crucial M4 128GB, Seagate barracuda 3TB PSU: XFX 650W XXX Edition Modular PSU - Keyboard: Ducky Shine 2 Pro
Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013 - Sound: Razer Characias

My mistake. I thought you got a better never settle bundle. I agree then go for the 7970

any 7970, great value, great card

Get the R9 280X. Its in your price range and is better than the 770. You wont need a new PSU, yours is fine as is

I would get the 770 if you have to buy current generation.

However, see if you can get a good deal on a 680.

7970s are good too; but they are a waste of power in my opinion.

I have looked into the 7970 and the pricetag is really attractive, but i'm also looking at those features from nvidia like g-sync and shadowplay so that kinda makes me unsure of what to buy.

770 then. I have a 760 and I am really happy with it; however the 770 is only about £40 more, at £239.99

Only in Murica.

But I would wait a week for the R9 290, maybe it does something with pricing or becomes a better option for you.

I am deciding the same thing too! So far my research and price rang has come to the "Sapphire R9 280x Toxic". This card is a high end card that matches with the GTX 780 and better with some programs/software when overclocked correctly.

-This is also the best bang for you buck and the best within your price range.

--Don't forget that it will have Mantle which will soon be a big game changer! This will make the card almost 10x better with games.

---I am sure i have missed more detail but the Toxic R9 280x is the way to go for what your looking for.

-----Price: $350.00

PS: Your power supply might have to be upgraded to at least a 700w or 750w (Most likely will).

Yes, that is the only problem with this card apparently. Try to see if you can make more space because this is worth it.

-Taking out extra Hard-drive slots or any extra fans that are not really needed will do the trick and WISE cable management.

--Also what is the current case you are using?

Like everyone else has said... 7970 or a 280X would be great for you.  The price to performance ratio is ridiculously good.

The Toxic will fit in your case. Don't forget to take out any extra Hard-drive slots and good cable management. It should fit fine without any of that though.

--I recommend a 700w power supply because don't forget that it has to run everything else including CPU, Motherboard, etc. So i would not push it. If you want your system to be future proof and ready for overclocking go 700w at minimum.

---Performance for the mantle? Hard question but judging from Linus's videos he sees a big difference coming and it running well.

And the 650w is good for the 280x?

AMD has been working on driver fixes for these microstuttring issues for a while now and since this is only a single card you should not have those issues. and if you are concerned about Corssfire issues go watch this video from tek syndicate  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWnbEHMLRog

this video talks about the 7970 and the 280X.

and as for mantle there will be improvements but you will have to wait and see

and a 650W is more than enough.
