why do devs always fuck up games?

So when the game The Culling came out it was a big hit, had tons of fans, it was super fun, and just a really good game at release.

it had some bugs like all games and they were patched. but how they patched it just fucked the game, it started with a solid 10k players and now its at around 300 players, easily have 20+ min ques to play now, and its not even worth playing anymore.

I just dont get why devs do this, I can understand testing the water but why not revert back after you see your game is dying and practically dead? like i honestly dont understand?

the game started with some combat problems, like blocking was OP and some perk combos let you 1 hit kill people. they changed that and thats good,

(this update was last year few months after relase)

it was all smooth sailing, then they just dropped a bomb and fucked it, the upped the all F.U.N.C cost of chests. from 50 for low tier weapons to 100, and added gold chests that cost 200 func (its not easy to get func 30 func per kill, and you can find 5 func laying around you use func to heal too so half of what you get from a kill goes to healing yourself usally )  they upped the care packages cost too doubling all of them, it was hard enough in the first place to get 150 to get a gun and now you need 250-300 like wtf, there was big backlash from the community but they still kept the changes, only thing they changed was took out the gold crates.

combat was fucked in that update, blocking was bad people could easily block hit block hit over and over and fuck you, if you mess up once by missing a hit or missing a block the other person pretty much got to fuck you up.

The day 1 release was almost perfect and now the game is a shit show, i cant even see how it is today becase i was sitting in que fro 40 min then decided to uninstall it becase not worth waiting that long. only thing i saw is they they removed over half the perks. and the ones they kept were the least used ones.

even the reviews were overwhelmingly positive at the start saying NOT TO CHANGE THE GAME MECHANICS, and thats exactly what they did.

the thing that makes me upset the most is that there is no other game like this, sure you can play mc hunger games and stuff but that's not the same at all.

does anyone know or maybe any game devs on here that can answer why tons of devs do dumb shit like that to ruin a perfectly good game? and never revert back to when players liked the game?

it makes zero sense to me, i get if they made a ton of money and want to just quit but why not revert back and leave a good legacy behind? why just destroy your name as a game dev?

Everyone should own a vive.

And a number of reasons:

  1. Poor management
  2. Bad understanding of the market and customers (due to...)
  3. Lack of customer interaction and feedback

You can also add cost cutting and outsourcing.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Okay it's not lack of feed back. Any game on steam has steam reviews and when devs fuck up the reviews all turn to negative. Just like the culling, it went from overwhelmingly positive in the first month to mixed and never got away from mixed. If you look at all the reviews you'll only see negative ones.

They all said they would even play if they reverted back. I think devs just don't like to listen

Thing is that customers can give feedback but that doesn't mean that the company is listening, which is probably the case here.

Its frustrating to see a game that you love take terrible turns down roads that the players can see as bad a mile away but the devs for whatever reason keep pushing for.  Sometimes the powers that be are forcing their hands, other times i would imagine its because they work in a bubble with like minded people so their ideas seem ok to them but they just cant see how out of touch they are with their customers.

Being a big fan of WoW is really hard, some of the choices Blizzard makes just boggle my mind lol
