depends on how much stuff you have open in the background

if you're like me, and have chrome, spotify, cam, origin, steam, uplay, skype, and more shit open while gaming, then get 16gb.

If you close all programs before loading up a game, 8gb is fine.

But if you love Just Cause 3, get 16. I noticed significant performance increases when I upgraded to 16 on my old rig

I recently purchased 8gb of ram and I was wondering what games would I be unable to play. I have an RX 480 4gb and an i5-6500 so what situations would I run into lack of ram problems?

I use daily to have 8gb and games performed fine. I have 10 now and only notice a couple fps higher than 8. The gain of having more ram is exponentially worse as you get higher up. 2 to 4 gigs of ram is huge. 4 to 8 I should a pretty good increase and 8 to 16 I should an ok increase and then any more than that for gaming at 1080p isnt nessesary.

There are very few games that will eat up that much RAM by themselves. If you want to future proof at 16GB, go for it, but you don't need to.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
