My new desktop has very slow internet, solutions please.

I built my first desktop a week ago, and used this WiFi adapter. This is a gaming PC, mostly for online games like Battlefield, and it seems like I can't get a stable connection (packet loss, bad download speeds...). At first I thought it was because I was trying to download too many things at once, but it remained slow even when my downloads were finished.

 

So I think I have two main options here:

1. Replace my WiFi adapter with a better one
2. Figure out a way to get internet from the phone line one room over

 

My router is all the way across the house, and I can't move it. That's where most of the electronics are anyway. There is a phone line in the next room over, but I don't know how to get internet from that, or even whether I can. A friend of mine recommended a power line adapter, but I've read online that people have had bad experiences with those.

 

Please recommend something. I don't want to spend a ton of money on troubleshooting the PC I just built, but I also want to do this right and do it fast. Thanks!

 

I also want to point out that I've used a laptop in the same room for years and my WiFi has been about as good as I think WiFi could be. Not as good as Ethernet, but definitely not as bad as my desktop. I'll attach speedtest.net results for each computer.

A powerline would likely be your best bet if you are unable to run an Ethernet cable to the PC. Powerlines can be hit or miss and they largely depend on the wiring in your house. I have heard people having great experiences, and other not so good. Only way of knowing is to try it out.

Its a bad wifi signal, you either need to run a cable in the walls or get  wifi extender.

I haven't done nearly enough research into networking. What's the difference between these two adapters? One is cheaper, but the more expensive one has more reviews on amazon and a slightly better score overall, and appears to have better network speed.

 

I'm willing to buy either of these just to get my desktop to work, but I'm not educated well enough to choose, so please help me out here if you can. Sorry for the dumb question.
