As the title suggests I am asking what Xeon would be the equivalent to an I7 specifically the 3770k and 4770k processors.

There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Just some helpful stuff: You're - You are, Your - Your car, They're - They are, Their - Their car, There - Over there.

The E3-1230V3 or E3-1245V3 (if you need integrated graphics).

that is not a -k processor because there is not k-xeon processors

There aren't any unlocked Xeons...

I knew there was no unlocked processors, I shouldn't have included the "k"

so if I went with these they would be better then the I7's ?

Yes, but not much better than the i7-3930K or 4930K (if better at all).  If you're going to compare to LGA 2011 i7's, then it's a different ball game.

If you're going to do that though, get Ivy Bridge-EP processors, not Sandy Bridge.  You get a lot more for your money.

Doesn't matter really, I was just curious, Kinda imagining what to do, I wanted a dual CPU system but wit xeons that would out perform the I7's, just throw some stuff at me.

Well if you want dual cpu you are instantly locked to 2011. Also out perform doing what exactly?

i5-3570k @ 4.4ghz (1.240v) || Asrock extreme 4 || CM Hyper 212 evo

Samsung 840 || WD blue 1tb || WD green 1tb || Powercolor 7870 xt @ (1200 mhz core : 1500 mhz mem)

Powered by a silverstone strider 500w psu in a NZXT 210.

It's very difficult to look for a dual CPU "equivalent" to an i7.  It's very dependent on the use case and situation.

I would say mild gaming, and quite a bit of work in Ae, Ps, Pr, Maya, 3DSMax,

I've toyed with the idea of a dual and quad socket setup for VM farm.  Instead though I ended up building single socket machines with fewer VMs on each.  I also like not having all my eggs (VMs) in one basket (in one physical machine).

I think it would be totally cool to have a dual or quad socket setup, but the motherboards are crazy expensive and the CPUs even more so.

Rather than dual Xeons I'd probably go with an E5-2650 v2 or something or maybe an E5-2670 or 90 v2 if you're really serious.  Dual CPUs aren't very efficient and there's a cost increase just for going to the platform, so it's better to stick with a single CPU if you can.

In that case, I'd go single cpu. Dual socket is very expensive for what it does.
