I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Before you get to that the very first thing you want to do is to toss that power supply there and get a proper one, coolmax is not regarded to be a good unit. You will want a good quality 500-600w unit. Here is a good list of quality power supplies and which ones to avoid. Also as mentioend if you are not getting an overclockable CPU there isn't a need for a Z170 board you can get something like a H or B series.

just quoting to re stress the need for a better PSU. really. it WILL die and it CAN fry components with it

Build one.

No really its actually easy, grab a cheap ish tower style heatink based cooler with or without fan, then a 4 pin or "PWM" fan of the same size with white LEDs and mount it to the heatsink. voila cheap, pretty and effective

thx for the suggestion

Here to help you narrow it down a little some good units for that tier of machine if your plan on getting an overclockable CPU would be the Seasonic M12II or M12II EVO or EVGA GQ or GS series. If you planning on getting a locked CPU the CXM (grey) series would also be something to look into.
