Screwed up over clocking my monitor help please!

Hello, first time posting just can't find any info to help my out. I tried over clocking my monitor. Which sounded easy as possible. I ended up going way to high on accident, now I just get a normal signal error. it only happens with my display port. my hdmi work's just fine. When I try to spam f8 on dp my system just makes click noise, doesn't sound good, and shuts off. so now I can't run my 1070 fe on dp.

So run it over HDMI, and change the settings whilst connected via HDMI.

out of curiosity, how did you even set it too high? Usually after changing the resolution or refresh rate a popup comes up confirming, and the resolution gets reverted if confirmation isnt received in 15 seconds.

That only changes the settings for hdmi. it won't let me change setting for the gpu to monitor via display port.

Reset to factory settings/defaults while in via HDMI then, that should reset EVERYTHING

Speaking of which, are you OCing via Nvidia control panel or the monitor's OSD?

I downloaded some software to help change it. instead of using nivida control panel, first mistake. I thought I had turned on the test mode in the program to reset in case of it not working. well guess I didn't do it properly .
