Theres alot of other networks on channel 11, have you tried a different channel for the 2.4?

Sorry I'm a little dumb when it comes to networking, but the only band that I can connect to is the 5GHz on channel 36 for some reason. On the 3rd image, that channel at the very bottom is the 2.4GHz channel 11. When I click on that, and try to connect, it takes me right backto 5GHz.

Thanks for the fast reply.

I mean you should try going into the router/modems settings and change the channel its using for the 2.5 from auto (which I presume it is auto set to) manually to a channel that isnt 11, since there are alot of other networks nearby that are using that.

If you have a device that you can move have you tried connecting while next to the router?

As close as you can get to whatever is providing the wireless (probably your modem/router) Just stand next to it if you can.

Also I would suggest doing a speedtest or something while there and then going back into the room that has whatever is having issues and do a repeat test. Just to check if its an issue with low signals in a room or something else.

Hmm, and the pc your having issues with is having trouble connecting to the 2.4 at all? Also you should probably remove the last image it has your public ip :)

Haha thanks. Yeah I can't seem to get it to connect to the 2.4 band. Also, I feel like that might be the issue as I had a laptop and another desktop sitting right in its exact position and had no problems at all. And they both most likely operated on 2.4 as both of them are older.

Yea I think it could be a issue with the device... And 5ghz is known for having worse signal range. Perhaps try another adapter if you can? Or the one out of the other desktop...

Yeah I guess I'm gonna have to try another adapter. It sucks so bad because like I said, I really don't know a whole lot about networking. I tried a powerline connection as I had a nice setup working at my house, and I was running into issues here. Then I was about to snag a asus pci n10 wireless adapter for 3 bucks on eBay, and it also was inconsistent with its performance. Then I figured I'd just go to bestbuy and buy the nicest one there so I wouldn't have anymore problems, and I still do.

The one in the other desktop uses mSATA and I got a 1156 mobo here that doesn't have one.

Perhaps its actually a issue with the pc over the adapter... If you can try use the other adapters that were having issues in the pc that isnt before going and trying to find another.

Just a suggestion, dont try wipe a thread. It could be useful to others who are searching for a solution to a similar problem. Instead mark whatever message you think best explains the solution as solved so that others can use the information to help if need be. The solved thing is the giant tick you can click on any message.
