So I'm looking for a new harddrive. mainly for recording and such or storing temporary data created by the likes of adobe premiere or adobe after effects. I used to have a 3TB WD Black, which I think I've ruined by constantly generating those temporary files (which i'll be sending in, for a replacement). But in the mean time I'll need a new drive. I don't think I've ever even used more than 1TB of storage, so it doesn't need to have any more capüacity thatn that. I'm really just looking for a reliable, cheap 1TB 3.5" harddrive.

Any reccomendations?

A Seagate Barracuda or a WD Blue.

your scratch disk should be fast for better productivity. I suggest a SATA SSD.

scratch disk as in disk for temporary files?

exactly. if you've got enough RAM, and a healthy UPS, a RAMDisk makes one hell of a scratch disk for projects.

and im guessing this RAMDisk doesn't wear out as much over time as HDDs or SSDs, since RAM is meant to be written to all the time anyway, right?

I would call that a pretty safe bet. just remember, as soon as power is removed, anything in RAM is lost. completely, totally, and utterly.

but holy hell is it fast.
