Ok, so if I understand it correctly you want to upgrade your computer since its GPU isn't doing too great. So you should get a new GPU (1050ti / RX 470 seems to fit your needs), but that doesn't mean you need to scrap your MoBo or CPU, keep them, they are great! In fact Your IGPU might run these games better :)

If I were you I'd do the following thing: Get a 1050ti and have a great time with it until the day comes where your CPU keeps being at 100% while gaming and the FPS is lower than you'd want. Then post a new thread :)

hi, im stuck with my i7-3770 and LGA 1155 proccesor socket

can somone plz find a compatible motherboard that isn't made in the stoneage.

Before you buy anything tho, make sure its compatible with the default bios.

All the motherboards i listed should be compatible with you cpu out of the box tho, but its better to be on the safe side.

whats the problem? why do you need a new motherboard? pretty sure they dont make a lot of LGA 1155 motherboards so ebay or your local used market is your best bet

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

If you have a thight budget i would go with a new mobo, as that is still a good cpu.

16x gen 2 is the same as x8 gen 3 which means no performance hit

Well there is a problem....

Most generations of Intel CPUs bring along there own, new, not backwards compatible, chipset. And it is no suprise that they are not compatible. With Skylake (the current gen) they moved power control out of the CPU and on to the MoBo so if you put an 1151 CPU into a 1150 socket, not only will there be a very lonely pin on the CPU but there will be nothing managing the power. This is a very specific case, but things like these happen every time a new CPU Generation gets a new Socket.

LGA 1155 has been replaced with the LGA 1150 socket in June 2013 so you will not find any motherboards for your CPU that are newer than mid-late 2013

So if you want to upgrade you should wait until you have the money for a CPU and MoBo, and possibly a little longer than that, if Zen or Cabylake are about to launch when you finished saving.

Also 1155 chips and boards still go for quite a bit of moneys on ebay ;)

Why do you say this?

What is the particular issue you are having?

Are you CPU bottlenecked in some game? Do you need SATA 3? Or what is going on?

Upgrading your motherboard wont give you any boost in performance..

Buy a new gpu, you will see huge gains

the i7 3770 is still a great cpu

but the psu is shit and the motherboard is pci x16 2.0

i'm not shure if a gtx 10 series will even fitt in the case.

the list of things is just getting longer to the point where you start to question if it's all worth it

PSU is an actual concern, but I guess you should be fine (upgrading it some day wouldn't hurt you though)

You should 100% check whether you have 2 PCI slots on your case or more, if not, you need to get a new one, but that isn't really a problem, the corsair low end carbide series is about 30 bucks

Is it worth it? Probably, a new MoBo is 50 bucks, a quodcore CPU 170, so you'd save quite a bit of money

Remember to check for physical compatibility of the case, PSU and GPU, your MoBo has a 24pin and a single 4pin so you'll be fine on that front.

I guess you are still running on HDDs, if you are at it spend the 30 bucks for a 120GB SSD for windows, it will make your life a lot better
