Does screen size effect FPS?

iRileyx

This might sound like a weird question but I'm beginning to think it does (even though google searches and numerous websites say it doesn't), I've just had to re-install GTA V on my pc after (somehow) messing up transferring it from my hdd to my new SSD.

To install it i moved my PC downstairs so i could connect it straight to my router so it would download faster, i also had it plugged into the 52" 1080P 60hz TV in my living room. After it had installed i tested it just to check it was working.and noticed i was somehow getting 60FPS with everything on high/very high, which is unusual as i normally only get 30-40 due to my CPU bottleneck. I thought this was weird and that somehow the fresh install of gta v had given me more fps, but now it was working i went ahead and moved my pc back upstairs. Now im plugged into my 32" 1080P 60Hz TV in my room, i'm back to my usual 30-40FPS, in the EXACT same game area i was when plugged in downstairs, the only other difference besides the TV im plugged into, is that now im using a wireless dongle, where as downstairs i was using a wired connection, but i was playing offline in story mode. all graphics settings, and the resolution/aspect ratio, are entirely the same.

Is there an explanation to this, or is it possible at such a size difference, 20 inches, that the screen size could very well affect the game FPS?
I'm thinking in this instance, because it would be rendering larger images (all be it, at the same resolution) it would put more work on the GPU, and in theory reduce the bottleneck slightly, giving me a higher FPS.

And no that doesn't make sense unless the resolution is different

Nope, screen size is totally irrelevant. Either way, the frame has to be rendered pixel by pixel, and that's how it's sent to the display -- the display gets information to display 1920x1080 pixels, not to display a certain color for 6 and a half inches. Are you SURE all the settings are the same?

Yep, exact same settings, same game area, same refresh rate, same 1920x1080p resolution (i tried higher but both tv's only support max of 1080p)

is it possible that your TV is 1080i and not 1080p, in which case it would be slightly easier to run

Nope. The physical size of the screen doesn't affect FPS.

Did you use the same HDMI cable in both instances?

*Non-faulty cables are proven to have EXTREMELY little or no effect on performance over reasonable distances (<25 feet)

*creds to @Naeaes for fixing that lol

Pixel density on a 60' TV on 1920x1080 probably isn't the best thing ever heheh but performance speaking it would be the same in a 15' 1080p screen
