It won't hurt your gaming, you will hardly benefit from it but  letting it enable will give you better multi tasking if you'll do other things at the same time the game is running.

Raises temps? Yes. Pushes down single core performance? Only if all CPUs are being loaded with a thread, which won't happen if someone's just gaming.

A good deal of current games use more than one 'core,' and Windows' default prioritization throws everything at Core 0 first, then Core 1, Core 2, etc. You can have the first 'cores' under load and the last few untouched. You'd be 100% correct if that wasn't the case, or everyone leveraged CPU affinity.

 

It shouldn't matter much on any X99 chip, or a Haswell or newer i7.

 

But I did have a Core i3 machine that saw better performance with HTT disabled in a few CPU heavy games.
