So this is one reason why I am waiting before buying into VR gaming, not just the price. I have the Samsung VR with an S7 because I wanted to try out VR and I'm not really liking the low resolution. Apparently Samsung's VR gives the best pixel density over the competition; something I learnt today. Should we expect PC VR in a year or two to kill what the PS4 pro can do? and can our GPUs keep up?

I just got the f0ve 0 headset which is 50% higher resolution than the Vive. I bet in about 2 years we'll have sustainable 4k vr headsets. 

 

Also, mobile vr shouldn't even be compared to pc vr. Completely different ballpark dude.

I just think it sucks overall that the mass market for VR is graphics being rendered by a phone. Seems to me like it's going to turn people off from ever getting interesting in "good" VR. However you need a mid to high end gaming PC for that, which makes the whole thing a bit of a flawed system. I think everything would have been better if the industry waited a couple more years for GPU tech on everything to catch up and put "good" VR at a more reasonable price. But maybe by that point people would just demand that the graphics be better to match what they'll be like on the newest AAA non-VR titles in a couple years, so it wouldn't matter anyway. Well, any way you spin it I just don't care on account of I still can't use any VR without getting motion sick instantly...

I'm not sold on vr at all. Give it another 20 years and it might be worth trying. ATM games are barable for 30mins then you'll never play it again and the experience IMO is very average.

 

Give me a sedative drug or microchip to control my thoughts that actualy put me in the game now that would be VR ?

I'm not sure if its just because I have a prototype, but its incredibly uncomfortable. The eye tracking is really incredible though. It makes it run smoothly by changing the resolution where your eyes are looking. The field of view also "feels" wider, but I'm not to sure if it is or not. 

 

The tracking is about equivalent to the Rift. It works in the same way. My main two complaints are: latency and compatibility. There is almost twice the latency as the Vive. It's noticeable and hopefully that is fixed. You also can only play games that work with osvr. 

 

Overall, the Vive is still a much better product, but the F0VE 0 introduces some really interesting technologies that may push VR further into the future.

I played a VR game in an arcade around '95. i was standing on a flying platform operating a gun with a giant helmet contraption and I shot these mech warrior style robot things. There were no textures the whole game was just made of lines and triangles

Yeah I am excited that the Vive now has a wireless add on that only adds 2ms of latency.

On gear and cardboard the pixels are much more apparent due to the type of content. Most is going to be a video of some sort or picture which will have compression and so on.  Rendered things you learn to look through it and you can see it anymore. Resolution and FOV are so far the only complaints I have with VR now.
