Cool raspberry pi idea?

I was watching a video on oscilloscopes and I thought to my self, damn. Those are cool. I need one. And then I thought to myself, they make software that emulates one. So, what if I were to take my raspberry pi I dont use and a old monitor and make some kick-ass wall art. Thoughts?

if you can make something thats kick-ass, then do it

The easy way to do it is to get a mic input and use that.

 

Its gonna suck, but work.

 

In order to get a good scope would require lots of input circuirty, and won't be easy.

Really? My plan would be to get an oscilloscope emulator and then run that on the Pi (Inside of Raspbian) and then just have it output to the display

He probably thought you meant making an actual oscilloscope and not a display piece.

I know of many ways to use an RPi to create a scope!

Here is an instructable on the matter:

If you were also to take a 555 timer circuit and connect it to the scope you could create different frequencies that look cool and different for some wall art.
