Hi All,

As the topic name suggests I have a 295x2 with stock closed loop water cooling. Its indentical to the one Linus showcased here:

Its a great card and it's performance (where crossfire is available of course) is on par with 1080.

But here is my little dilemma....

The card throttles itself when it hits above 75C, which if you stress test it even at default clock's, its going to coast around that temperature almost all the time.

So of course you might thing, get a custom block and stop crying.
Well, nobody sells it anymore is my answer to that.

I already have a custom loop in my PC, just chilling my CPU at the moment ( 1 360 rad, 1 240 rad). I had a 290x before water cooled, but i sold it and i got this card instead.

So, using pliers, zip ties, scissors etc...is it possible to cut one of the tubes going out of the radiator, clean it, and just shove my own tube into it and let it go into custom loop?
Of course, I would empty the entire closed loop, run it with distilled water for couple of hours, clean and rinse and repeat etc etc.

Do you guys reckon it would be worth while? What do you think I would need in order to do this? Is this going to stuff up the internal pump of the card, or will it just aid the one in the custom loop?

Questions and I need answers!

No don't.

Sell it and buy a better card with the money of the custom loop + sold 295x2.

I reckon if you sealed everything very tightly, you could have on tube for intake and one tube for outtake and just lop off the radiator on the 295x2. But I'm not a modder person, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
