I'm looking for a case with high airflow and lots of drive cages I've seen the Corsair Air 540 and 740 but both are lacking drive cages and PSU dust filters and then the Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5 but it seems expensive for what you get for it. Does having a mesh front even help with airflow?

If you just want the airflow/drive cages, get the standard Mastercase 5 (non-pro).

how many drive cages do you want?

I'm going to be buying 2 2TB WD blacks with the pc I'm building and getting 2 4TB WD Reds in RAID (whatever one that keeps storage safe) and I will also be putting 2-4 SSDs in it so 4+ HDDs and 4+ SSDs

If you can spend more, get the Caselabs Bullet BH7 case. Fantastic case from a fantastic company famous for their Magnum line of cases. Plus, it's price-friendly.

I hope to buy a Magnum SMA8 someday.

"price-friendly" what the actual fuck? Also it doesn't actually support the required number of drives at stock, and if you are going to buy separate drive cages there are literally hundreds of cases that would work.

Just why? That is so inefficient... Ugh. Well the above mentioned would work.

No it isn't. It isn't safer, it isn't faster, it isn't better. It generally isn't even cheaper.

Yeah I'm serious. Caselabs cases in the ATX size or bigger runs you north of $499! The Bullet series of cases tops at around $265 and you can still get a full ATX system in one. Check out the pictures for yourself and see how it's all laid out.

I have. I know how much Caselabs cases are. I'd call it a huge scam but Caselabs doesn't do enough volume to be considered "huge".

Comparing something to the case equivalent of a private yacht and calling it price friendly defacto is not a valid argument.

But yea I know some people consider them "worth it".

They don't as they don't have a huge manufacturing team, and they're not willing to outsource their manufacturing. They're all manufactured in the US and the heavy demand thing has since been resolved. You can actually order from them again.

As of writing this, I emailed them about their team size we're looking at.

Plus I have a question for you: Do you own a Caselabs case? And if you do, what's your experience with owning one?

It isn't.

The Define S is the best airflow midtower case on the market today, but it doesn't support many drives out of the box (although you can always buy a drive cage set and fix that issue.)

The Mastercase 5 (Standard/Pro/Maker doesn't matter) is the second most open, and it does support your drive count.

Other relevant case considerations, Node 804 (more open than it seems, and should support total drive count), Thermalfake x71 (not amazing build quality and very large), Phanteks Enthoo Pro M (larger case, fairly open), Define R5 (ok for airflow, not great, but very quite, supports drives required).

No. And I probably never will while they are so hilariously overpriced (value-wise, not margin-wise).

I'm not a huge fan of their ID (although I don't dislike it).

There are a few niche retailers around me that use Caselabs cases for workstations builds, and there I can kinda see the point (similar to Singularity Computers most recent build 18). I have been able to do some hands-on experience with them posing as a potential customer (because hey, gotta see shit in person.)

The cases are fine. Sufficient quality workmanship (not imho better though than anything I've seen from Fractal/Phanteks), nice paint jobs, meh-to-bad support for their size, terrible psu mounting system (although probably fine), plus lack of filtration is a non-starter.

I work with metals day and night, and Aluminium is not a feature to me (at best it is a wash, at worst it is an inconvenience/liability.)

I also really am annoyed with how a 700 dollar base case nickel and dimes you on effectively neutral cost options, but hey, this is a boutique case maker making boutique cases. It's going to be unreasonably expensive. I get that. I just won't pay for it given the current case market and my needs.
