Hey, i'm planing on building a budget gaming pc with an intel lga 775 motherboard, and i would be using a xeon 5450 and a gtx 660 or 660ti, would the cpu bottleneck the gpu? if not, what better gpu's wouldn't bottleneck as well in games such as gta V and need for speed 2015? is there a better cpu with better performance vs price?

Many thanks.

GTA 5 with a 650ti? why not a 1050ti?

with a xeon 5450 processor? wouldn't it bottleneck? I could definitely get a 1050, specially with the black friday sale, but i think that's too much for the cpu, am i wrong?

Budget?

Why 5450, a q9550 is a bit more and will work out of the box.

If you can spend a bit more, a i3 is much faster.

A Xeon X5450 (overclocked) is fine to pair with a GTX 1050 Ti. Even a 1050 that you can get for $100 will give you good framerates.

But what's your budget for the whole thing and what do you already have?

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

i don't exactely have a "budget". I would be paying £40 for a new case and PSU and maybe £80 would be ok for a cpu and mobo combo, then i would choose the gpu

Also, on the description of the xeon e5450 on ebay, the guy says it runs on the lga 771 or lga 775, but on the intel ark, it only says lga 775, can someone explain why?

I don't know

I don't know the specifics, but if the case and PSU come in a bundle, 90% of the time don't buy it. The PSU will be dangerous and the case will be bad.

they don't come bundled, but the psu is the cheapest brand ever (1 life), but this is like a "no fucks given pc"

I'd still advise you to get a better PSU, but it's your choice.

what about the e5450 socket? can it run on a lga 755?

There lga 771 only. You can get an adapter, but it wont work on all boards.

The e5450 runs on lga 771, there is a 771 to 775 mod, but I suggest you read about it before trying it.

Your motherboard will have to support the certain fsb, and a certain chipset, as well as cutting the notches out of the motherboard socket for the lga 771 cpu to fit in the 775 socket.

Sandybridge cpus (lga 1155) are going for cheap, I would suggest seeing about one of those, if not even lga 1156 nehalem i5s are way better then any of the lga 775 cpus despite having two cores(4 threads), for the low end ones.
