upgrading graphics card should i go 290x or 780ti? give atleast good reasons why i should get either one

Right now the 290X outperforms 780 and Titan, we don't know much about 780 Ti.

Get a reference 290X and water cool it or get an Asus DirectCUII when it comes out the 780 Ti should be out by then, so you can compare performance.

780ti is not out yet but if you're waiting then it depends on what the 780ti brings to the table. 95% of the performance for 65% of the price will be hard to beat without more vram and more smx clusters to create a 20%+ difference.

Only if you compare an uber mode 290x to a stock speed 780. Let the 780 run wide open on gpu boost 2.0 and it beats the 290x, and at a temp well below 94C.

All cards are very loud at 100% fan speed, the 290X is no exception, it doesn't run at 100% at stock, it doesn't even go over 40% at stock.

Even coolers like the Windforce, DCu2 and the MSI Lightning coolers are quite loud at 100%. As you say, the idea is that you don't run a fan at 100% speed all the time.
