New build help

jakjakattack

Hello, my friend is looking to build a computer. He has a budget of around $800 USD but is willing to go up to 1000. He does not need peripherals, and you can add windows 10 for $40 from Kinguin to your budget. I have found these keys to work well. We also have a microcenter and fry's near us for in store purchases. He wants to play games on this.

Thanks for the help

You can fit a 1070 and 6600k in the build but you will have to remove the SSD and get a cheaper motherboard and cooler.

At $1000 a SSD should be included.

I feel like the 1070 is forced in your build, you compromise on most things to fit it in. You can save money by removing the 16GB and getting 8GB.

No one puts a 1070 with 8gb of ram. Especially 2x4. NO ONE... unless they are blue

he already has a budget of 800 and willing to go up to 1000. He will not most likely go over that. Unless you can find me a free legit copy of windows

How is this? http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Hf6TPs

There is a mobo/cpu combo at microcenter for 250 and those are the components. I added 20 for tax. The gpu is a 6 day sale on Newegg at 405 with 20 rebate. Is there any way I can shave off any more?

@Apollo Refugio @deXxterlab97 @Sreno1 @GalacticRuler

please not a h170 motherboard as you can not overlock on it. if i were you i would try and get a cheaper gpu, way cheaper ssd as samsung are epxpensive

look my 2 builds I posted up there, they are perfect

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZKFc4C
cpu: intel i5-6500 3.2 ghz quad-core

mobo: asus h170m-plus MATX

(if you want to push the budget further for more graphics/performance up this to a z170 board and a "k" series processor, and think about only using a single ssd or hdd)

memory: corsair vengeance lpx 2x8 ddr4-2133

storage: adata ultimate su800 256gb 2.5" ssd

              wd caviar blue 1tb 3.5" 7200rpm hdd

gpu: sapphire radeon rx 480 4gb nitro+

(I think amd has the best value at not super high end pc's but if he prefers NVidia, a 6gb 1060 would also serve him well)

case: fractal design arc mini r2 MATX

Power supply: corsair cxm 550w 80+bronze semi-modular psu

total price including $40 OS = $883.00 just going off of pcpartpicker.

however, I know for a fact that microcenter has a $30 off with cpu if you purchase a mobo with it, black Friday is coming and you should be able to snag ram a bit cheaper, for a $10 premium the cxs corsair line of psu's will be 80+gold if that bronze rating is worrisome.

Justification/explanation for choices: non "k" chip and h170 board to save money (also not having to buy a cooler), wont need to OC to play perfectly at 1080p 60fps and the pricepoint makes 1440p kind of unreasonable (have to compromise to fit a gtx 1070 in there), corsair is a great RAM brand and that's the cheapest set there is and 2x8 is the standard for most builds, I think <250gb ssd's are kind of dumb (with this amount you can throw more than a couple of your fav games and your OS on there) and a 1tb drive for mass storage, any rx 480 would do just fine or gtx 1060 for that matter (this one is cheap and not sketchy to me), i personally have a 4k gaming rig in a arc mini r2 its a fantastic case at the price but for $30 you can find some decent enclosures, and 550w is all youre going to need and cxm/cxs are just fine for psu's. i also went with the matx form factor, as it still allows plenty of expansion while keeping the not massive footprint of atx towers. if he wanted to crossfire or add a soundcard or even double his ram in the future; he can.
