So for me using the same water coOling block on the 6700k and 6850k I get about 20 degrees cooler on the 6850k with it at 4.5 ghz and the 6700k at 4.7ghz. is this normal? my friend keeps saying that the cpu even though it's bigger should be hotter but the 3930k I had once was also very cool. I think the larger surface area takes away heat alot faster. what do you guys think ? I got 50 to 55c on the 3930k 60 to 68 on the 6850k and 80 to 85 on the 6700k.

Depends on the voltage and the specfic chip. 

 

Heat goes up expontially and 4.7 is a fairly high oc.

Because 6850k has SOLDERED heatspeader and 6700k just uses goo glue.

All CPUs for X99 are soldered to IHS.

And because of that, you get 20°C lower temps compared to those CPUs with TIM inside.

i'm so confused because there are deliding videos for this cpu... how can you delid a soldered ihs with a razor blade?

It does not mean that it is not soldered if you delid it

Delidding soldered IHS.. I wouldn't do that for 3-4 average temp drop
