Says 16GB recommended but only SD card lot?

So I recently found a old cam corder (Vivitar DVR 410) and it has a SD card slot. The manual says a "recommended 16GB SD card" but it says it includes a "SD reader"

 

Does that mean I can only put up to 2GB, or would I be fine putting 16GB or even a 32GB sd card

From the manual it says up to a 16GB SD card can be inserted into the camera.

Oh ok. What would happen if I inserted something like a 32 GB SD card?

Probably wouldn't work.  32GB requires it to be SDHC, and 64GB requires it to be SDXC.  They are physically compatible but not sure if they are electrically compatible (whether you can use it or not).

So theres no risk if I put my 32 GB GSKILL sd card right now besides the camera not showing it?

Yep you were right. It shows the little icon, but it just says "SD card full"

 

I also just tried it with a 16GB SD card, it worked fine, darn wish I would've found this camcorder before I bought my 32 GB sd card.. Oh well you live and you learn.
