Seeing through opaque solids may be possible

Light diffusion is a phenomenon that occurs when light waves come into contact with an uneven surface or in an object with an inhomogeneous structure. This diffusion makes it impossible to see through skin, paper or clouds, for example. These materials are largely opaque, and only a small percentage of the light can penetrate through them. And yet these materials do have open channels, special paths through the material that the light waves can follow, no matter how thick the material is. Utrecht Ph.D. student Jeroen Bosch has located these open channels to send much more light through an opaque material.

Just think a fiber connection could be achieved through the traditional copper structure if this were developed enough.

Just think a fiber connection could be achieved through the traditional copper structure if this were developed enough.

All they are doing is shooting photons and hope it stays in the empty space of atoms So that it reaches the other side. And by following certain paths to avoid the nuclei of atoms.

 

Theorhetically there is the possiblity to walk through walls as well because of this.

 

This is all on the atomic level with singular photons, xray vision is still not possible.

Yes I agree but think of the other types of imaging that could result for medical treatments when it comes to diagnostics as the paths can be mapped and if there is a blockage in the path that would lead to knowing where an abnormal growth or erroneous cells may live. This may be an non invasive way to date fossils and rocks or to help discover fossils.

 

The LHC is just shooting atoms and that has yielded interesting results. The best way we can find out about this world is by looking at the small and how it works.

Yay for quantum tunneling. (I think that's what that is but I'm probably wrong)

The transmission medium needs to allow for total internal reflections with as little attenuation as possible on the signal itself. Just passing light through copper using this method (if you can even get enough photons through it) doesn't mean the copper cable becomes a fiber optic grade channel.
