Hey guys I was wondering what would be a worthwhile upgrade for my GTX 960 2gb card. I am thinking about getting a 1080p 144hz monitor and want something that will run most games at high to ultra. So I've been looking at the GTX 1060 6gb, but is this a noticeable upgrade from the 960 and will it give me a good experience on a 144hz monitor? I realize something like the 980ti would be good for this, but that is also a little pricey; is there anything on the AMD side that could work? Also if I run games significantly below 144hz on the monitor will I experience any stuttering or anything like that? Thanks!

Yeah I have the 1060 6GB for my VG248QE (which is 1080p 144Hz) and they're a perfect match. The 1060 is around the same as a 980 IIRC, so the performance bump is quite a big one. And the card is a great price too.

Wait nvm get the rx 480 because it works better with your cpu and will get great frame rates

What do you mean will "work better with my cpu" would my i5 really bottleneck something like the 1060 enough to have to get a 480?

No no your cpu won't bottleneck the rx 480 is basically a gtx 970 but for less money

How is that the same as a 970? the 8 GB surpasses my 980 at times while dragging below at others. also the 970 was a joke with only 3.5 gb memory to use

no it won't the RX 480 8gb or 1060 6 gb are both on equal grounds and the one that is cheaper will be the better option, however the 1060 does take the lead by a bit in more games than not.
