What CPU do you have? Do you think that this is a bug or GPU bottleneck?

what fps are you running at? the large scale multiplayer maps are VERY CPU intensive. even overclocked 6600k's take a shitkicking if you're aiming for 144hz. 6700k usually does decent if you OC it, but if you have a clogged computer with other things running in the background, you're going to be cutting it close.

I get 100+ fps but when my CPU gets to 100% it goes down into the 50's.

Sounds like something else running in the background to be causing that sort of fluctuations. but i've no experience on BF 1, so i don't know for sure

I ran task manager while playing and no background processes were using more than 1%.

You're not the only one experiencing this with their i7 CPU's.

My i5-4670 is always at 100% CPU Usage when playing on a 64 player server with my GTX 1060 6gb at only 30-70% usage with constant frame drops and stuttering.

Battlefield 1 is just as CPU intensive as it is Graphically demanding.

There have been talks and rumours about Dice putting an optimization patch to reduce CPU overhead, but who knows.

Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter.

I found a fix: turned resolution scale to 134% and I've overclocked my gpu to 2063mhz and 4450 MHz on memory. It puts more stress on the gpu and since I oced it, it compensates for the lost frames.

When I was playing I had task manager open and nothing was using more than 0~1% maybe it might be the MSI afterburner on screen display that I use to monitor my temps? If I turn that off how am I supposed to monitor my temps?

I have a similar system to yours, and my 6700K also gets to 100% usage, but I don't get framedrops, and I have v-sync disabled.

Main PC: R7 3700X / Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wifi / Radeon RX 5700 XT / 32GB DDR4-3200 / 250GB & 2TB Crucial MX500 (in HP Prodesk 400 Case)

Laptop: R5 2500U / Radeon Vega 8 / 8GB DDR4-2400 / 500GB SK Hynix BC501 (HP Envy x360 13)

My little Server: i7-7700 / Asrock H110M-ITX / 24GB DDR4-2400 / Samsung 860 Pro 250GB & Seagate Firecuda 2TB / VMware ESXi 6.7

(Don't tell me i should Name them, i don't want to ^^)

Thanks a lot for re assuring me. I thought it was just my system. Also I found out that I got frame drops because of an unstable overclocked witch has been resolved. But I was wondering if your CPU gets to 100% in these certain maps: Amiens, mount grappa, and st Quentin scar. On all other maps my CPU runs like a beast, it's just these maps.

Let me see if I understand: you increased the load on the GPU and now you run at more or less constant 100 FPS?

It's really bad on Amiens, there the i7 is like the entire time on 100%. On Mount Grappa it's more like 90% but Spikes up to 100% sometimes.

On St Quentin Scar it's actually not that bad, more like 80-85%.

Do you think it's an error on dice's part or there is something wrong with our cpu's?

It's not an error on DICE's part. It's just the CPUs haven't been increasing in performance much lately, while improvements made in latest titles are requiring much more CPU performance. This has led to having to get a top of the line CPU to enjoy smooth gameplay. The only solution would be for DICE to degrade the game somehow and make it less CPU intensive that way.

Nah they're just fine. That's how BF1 is. I wouldn't call it an error, since it can run fine on weaker chips too. (my brother has my old FX8350 and can play this at good frames too)
