Good headphones?

I have some Sony headphones(~$150 USD) and they're great for everything except Bass. I know almost nothing about sound especially when it comes to headphones. Does anyone have any recommendations for clear sound and good bass?

I might be able to bump the budget to $200 next month.

HD 518s are pretty nice. The bass isn't the best in the world but it's still got significantly better sound quality than Beats headphones.

And you're getting fairly neutral sounding headphones with Sennheiser's sound signature and neodymium magnets with a comfortable lining on it.

Budget: $100 USD

Ah, well, I have studio headphones. I'll take a look at HD 518s. Thanks.

Open back?

Open back headphones leak some sound outside of the headphones.

And conversely, they let some sound and air into the headphones.

If you're using this for your house/apartment it'll be cool but if you're sitting next to someone you might have to be mindful of the volume :D.

Anyways, thanks for advice.

Open-backed headphones, though generally having lesser bass, are normally better at reproducing a better sound stage. I get frequent ear infections so I kindof have to wear them if I want to game for more than a couple hours at a time without stopping to "air out" the cans lol

Also, about the M50x, Most people actually say to go with the M40x as they are cheaper and actually sound better to most people.

If you know the sound signature you tend to enjoy, like if you're more of a bass head or if you listen to more classical music or whatever this http://graphs.headphone.com/ is an awesome website that graphs headphone sound signatures in incredible detail a few different ways and allows you to compare several headphones, cans or IEMs, against each other so you can see what ones might be better for you. Obviously you won't know for sure until you bite the bullet and buy a pair but because of that factor of headphone buying, I take my sound equipment very seriously when considering what to buy so I figured I'd pass that along

I was already considering the M40xs after some reviews & the $50 price difference.

"Better soundstage". Different strokes for different folks. Sound is a very person-to-person thing. I, personally, hate open backed headphones. I don't like the sound. You should probably be getting up more often than every couple of hours anyway ;)

I agree about the M40x, however, they're not cheaper if you factor in MassDrops price.

Again, each to their own. I had M30's and I enjoyed them for almost a decade.

No it's not, but it's currently the cheapest.

Unfortunate!

You can always get them for $112 from Amazon (US).

Which works out to be the same since chances of you paying tax are slim to none.
