I upgrade parts when needed, don't see the point in buying a whole new pc when upgrading 1 or 2 parts will work fine.

^ this - for example I plan only to upgrade my VGA next year.

As with others, I'm having a difficult time answering. There are too many factors at work in each of the three computers I've built for my son and me.

If I can see I can afford an upgrade I will do it. Would like to upgrade cpu horse power of my Bad Wolf. However, my FX-6300 at 4.6 runs over a 540 on cin. Can run Arma 3rd online at 30-40fps which for any pc is pretty normal.

Could really use a screen upgrade...

Systems built (personal) | 1. Bad Wolf (Has passed on to PC Heaven): https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/zX9WGX |  2. Red Husky: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/Mwhypg

Systems built (for commission) | 1. Red Fox: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/W4LD4D | 2. Not Namedhttp://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/TMhqqs 3. Bad Wolf 2.0: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/7p8Ycf upgraded Bad Wolf to an I3-7100 for my friend as a gift|

I usually upgrade when my needs outperform the spec. I'd typically just upgrade the part that needed a refresh...
