Currently i have a sata 6 gbs 7200rpm, so fast as regular hdd's go, but thinking about pickin up the new Samsung evo drives..

If you use your computer often, then use it'll definitely be worth it. That slight extra snappiness will make your usage so much more enjoyable.

Let me say it like this:

1. I turn on my pc.

2. I turn on my monitor.

3. BOOM. Booted to desktop!

just as a boot drive no not worth it unless you got the money burning a hole in your pocket. If waiting a minute for a PC to boot drives you crazy go for it. If you can afford a larger capacity one to actually get some real functionality out of it go for it. That's just my take.

It's not just boot time, but windows feels so much more responsive and snappy

I hesitated for so long to get one, though when I did, I felt like I missed out on a lot! :P Though it's one of them Agility 3's from OCZ. Paid £60 for 60GB, where now you can get a 840 120GB for about £75. Plus the speed has dropped massively, can't wait to get a new one. :P

My older Agility 3 (Sata3) in Sata 2 mode stills pulls an instantly usable clickable windows 7 in next to no time, I know for a fact its only running at 220/118 read/write, but it still looks like it loads as fast as any Sata 3 quality SSD.

Replaced with a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB, brilliant things these SSD's.

BF3 alone (seems to utlize good sequential speeds in loading),... Mechanical drive 7200rpm ,....timed first run level load was 50s (or close to, as the below times are "approximate")

Same system on the Agility 3 was under 30s, on the Samsung it was under 20s.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

If you leave your computer on all the time no sense in getting one of these and even as a boot drive really ?  C'mon man.  As for gamers there is no real benefit other than loading cg movies in games quicker at times but really ?  C'mon man.

Seriously there has to be a better present you want more than an SSD.  Heck if I had a gf I would tell her to buy something nice for herself instead of getting an SSD.  They are pointless.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Are you being serious?  I honestly can't tell.  I don't understand all the cultural nuances at play on this techy site.

Any program you load on your SSD will be much snappier.  For instance, my SSD not only stores Windows but also all my commonly used programs.  Its awesome.  When I open Quickbooks for example, it takes merely seconds to load to the login screen.  I like to use Gimp, which loads in approx 3 seconds.

This makes your computer so much more enjoyable to use, which is absolutely worth the money to me since I spend so much time working on my computer.
