Q2 or Q3 2017 is the rumors IIRC

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

280x is still a pretty capable 1080p card tbh, my 660s have been fine with lighter games at 1080p when i have used the LAN PC so you should be completly fine lol, i dont think Vega is bringing anything around the RX480/GTX1060 because im pretty sure the RX490 but there is always the rumored RX 485 that could show up before then

pick up a used 980 or 980TI for cheap, or even a 970 or R9 390(X) because they have been pretty cheap on the used marked with 980TIs going for under $300 sometimes and 970 going for $140 or so

More like the 390 to Fury X range. The RX 480 is a small chip, about the size of the 380x. So expect 2 new chips (4 new GPUs.)

I'm pretty sure it's Q1 2016. It's likely we'll get some big announcement at CES 2017.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I hope that AMD gives Nvidia a run for their money. The high end consumer GPU market needs some competition.

I hope so too, but I really have my doubts. First of all, they have to deliver, hopefully sooner rather than later, and secondly, when is that going to be really?

By the time consumer/prosumer cards from AMD come out Pascal might have been out for a year or so. Fair enough if you can and are willing to wait for that long, but up until that point, NVIDIA can just have a free reign over the high end market.

2016Q4 to 2017Q1 was the initial placement on the roadmap back around Polaris release. Nothing official since then, so it seems a 2016 release is out of the picture.
