Hello, since I'll be staying here for a while I think it might be nice to try some different foods. One person already recommended I try this new "McDonalds" restaurant? Seems interesting.

What restaurants/foods can you recommend? I really want to know, what do you like and thus recommend I try? :D

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

If you want to go overpriced, try Starbucks.

The coffee chain? That brand is very strong, we still have it in my time. I think I would like very much to try one of those overpriced artificial chemical'd pumpkin spice drinks I've heard about.

Pizza Hut. 1 large, hand tossed, Parm crust, BBQ sauce pizza with extra cheese. Toppings: pepperoni, beef, ham, bacon, chicken, pineapple, onions, salami, sausage, meatballs. Add the special instruction: "Parm Parsley, Extra Drizzle".

Make sure you order through the $11 any deal otherwise that's a $32.74 pie.

My God, is it even legal to order something so absurdly fattening? That thing must be 30,000 calories! None the less, I can eat anything without ill effects, so I will consider trying this meat pie of yours.

I had this thing today called a "Texas Style Sloppy Joe" and it was amazing. I enjoy trying new foods. :) I'm not sure about your canned meat though, it has a very high salt content.

I did it. I actually ordered your crazy death pizza. I ordered over the phone, and the employee was a bit ticked off at the complexity of the order. I have to say though, it's absolutely delicious.

What's more interesting to me is that you haven't heard of McDonalds. Yes, it started in the USA, but it's now global in over 100 countries.

Staying in Washington, US, 2016.

My knowledge of branding and food is particularly lacking. That's why I wanted your advice. I have to say, I'm liking what's been suggested so far. The pizza hut pizza was delicious and I'm having a Starbucks today :)

The options are limitless.

Where are you from? Another country?

Are you wanting to try just American food for now?

DON'T TRY MCDONALDS. PLEASE

Go for pizza or Chinese food. True, neither is technically American but nothing is

Also, coffee, donuts and ice cream

The death pizza recommened by @EverythingPinkIsMagic was delicious. Chinese food sounds interesting, can you recommend a particular place or dish @wrathoftheturkey?

I'm not @wrathoftheturkey but while definitely americanized, Panda Express is really good (especially their orange chicken - it's fantastic!)

Hamburgers --- start out avoiding national fast-food chains.

How do you pick?  Google.com/maps

Search for "burgers" or "hamburgers."  Browse by location close to you.  The results should include links to their websites (when applicable). Load the site and look on it for their "Contact us" or "Locations" details.   If they have locations all over the place, try a different one.

Chains ARE NOT BAD, but there is very little personality added to the food.  Chains generally have to follow specific guidelines, whereas mom-and-pop (local) restaurants have more liberty because there isn't a corporation governing them.

I can't give you any specific recommendations because I don't know your area, but it won't be hard for you to find them and decide.

I do recommend this though:

Whatever kind of restaurant you visit, tell the waiter/cashier/whatever that you're new to that kind of food and are open to suggestions and variety.  I can almost guarantee you that the person will appreciate your honesty and will help you out... probably with a smile on his face.

Earlier this year I took my son to Galveston, Texas for spring break.  We stopped at a little diner and I did pretty much what I just said to you.  I told the cashier that my "problem" is that I'll eat EVERYTHING on the menu and would like help deciding.   I was directed to a really good salmon sandwich, and it came with a choice of soup.  I simply told her to pick for me and not tell me so that I'll be surprised when it's brought to the table.   It was a good dining experience.

Yes, I have had a hamburger before, but I understand. There are a lot of "hole in the wall" places here with American style foods, including hamburgers. I have not tried them, bit I think that might be a good idea.
