Extending Main Partition?

So I have an SSD and for some reason when I intially made it, it left 23GB of the SSD unallocated and now that all my stuff is on it (and its the main partition) I cannot extend it. How can I (about to reinstall windows).

Try anouther partition manager, like gparted or a live linux distro.

Personally I recommend PartedMagic or gParted for partitioning. They handle almost every filesystem nicely.

Could you post a screenshot of your Disk Management and the brand and model of the SSD? 

 

If you are running Windows Vista or later OS and the unallocated space is behind the OS partition you should be able to extend your OS partition using Diskpart:

• open CMD as an administrator
• type diskpart and press Enter
• type list disk and press Enter
• type select disk 0 (of your SSD is listed as disk 0) and press Enter
• type detail disk and press Enter. You should be able to see a list of all volumes on the selected disk
• type select volume 0 (if that's your system partition) and press Enter
• type extend

 

As the guys suggested, using a third-party software should also get the job done.
