Hey there folks. Can anyone recommend a small but effective laptop cooler? I don't know which one to buy because I can't seem to find any real reviews on cooling pads, just unboxings and "this product looks nice and the fans do in fact push air" kind of "reviews." I can't find any out there that actually tell me how the temperatures will differ while using a particular cooler, so I'm at a loss as to which one to blow cash on.

I have an MSI GS63VR that tends to get pretty warm when playing games. I've seen it go past 80 C on the CPU and GPU while SnapMapping in Doom while using the Cooler Boost fan preset in MSI Dragon Center, so I'd like to find a cooler that can really bring that down to improve the longevity of my computer. Another thing to note about this laptop is that the air vents on the bottom aren't in the center of the laptop, but rather toward the monitor. (Picture below this post).

Does that mean I should try to find a cooler that has fans concentrated at the top of the pad and avoid ones that use a single or two fans in the center? Rather than guessing, if someone could help me find a cooler that is high quality, easy to carry around in a backpack filled with textbooks, and effective for this laptop, that'd be awesome.

Thanks for reading, and here's the bottom of the laptop so y'all can see how the vents are configured (serial numbers are blotted out).

If you want some large laptop cooling, why just not get a desktop, and add some cheap fans to that?

Me does not understand people and why they have laptops, and still want to connect bulky things to them.

I have a desktop. I basically live at school however (around 35 hrs every week), so I bought a powerful laptop to play games there between classes.

If you're not going to be helpful, then don't bother posting.

But MSI's fan implementation is already very good, and the GPU on that laptop is designed to sit at the back of the laptop away from the rest.

I assume this is with fanboost on? I'd just get a standard cooling pad.

I thought about the Opolar cooler, but I was afraid it wouldn't help much since there's a giant vent going across the entire chassis just above the keyboard; was worried the suction it provided would be moot due to it being impossible to create negative air flow in the computer.

I'll probably end up going with one of the Cooler Master pads since they have several thin models that won't get in the way.
