Anti vibration fan mounts

FrozenFlame

Hi, I was just wondering if I can use anti-vibration fan mounts on 200mm fans. I plan to replace the standard mounting screws on the top 200mm fan on a Antec 1100 case.

I looked around online and found these....

what do you mean? It's a bad thing because if the fan passes vibrations to the case it creates more noise, especially if you have a metal case. I'm trying to minimize the vibrations transferred to the case in order to reduce the noise.

I thought that was obvious.

My R4 also makes a lot of vibrations because of my rear exhaust, I am also planning on buying these rubberised screws. I think they'll help a lot. I'd say go for them.

I've never been a fan of these rubber screws simply because they interfere with other components on my CM 690 II (I used to run Gelid fans that shipped with this kind of mounting, and they were quite effective despite being a PITA to install). I mean, I guess if you don't mind the interference then they'll work fine but in my experience, rubber grommets that go between the fan and the chassis work just as well and offer more flexibility.

Depending on where you are, shipping might be a tad on the high side. Else, I guess you'd be better off buying the rubber screws.

I use Corsair fans. Quiet edition. You can get gasket washers from lots of places. Cork or/and rubber. Probably way cheaper than any specialty fan fasteners.

Most hardware stores have rubber washers and if not that most auto stores have small rubber grommets. Could save a few bucks. GL

Those Ebay ones are better. I have both types, well another are bit longer.

Short ones aren't so sturdy and break if you move case even short distanses. They might work if your holes have smooth edges. However these do only little and I think something like 200mm fan doesn't vibrate as much as 120/140mm would.
