The i7 4790K would be worth it over the i5 6600K. Those extra threads will help in a good number of games.

Off the top of my head, Fallout 4, Crysis 3, Battlefield 1, The Witcher 3, GTA V, Overwatch, ARMA 3 and Cities: Skylines benefit all from hyperthreaded CPUs. I'm sure a bit of Googling will reveal more.

Plus, higher minimum framerates and more consistent frametimes (less stuttering)? Yes, please.

i5 is enough, i7 will give extra frames, people freak the hell out about i5 bottlenecking but my i5 still runs my gtx 1070 @ 99% usage in BF1 even if my cpu is at 95% usage all the time.

i5 still does the job perfectly, i7 is better, but 150$ more approx.

i5 for gaming, i7 for gaming if you want to have all the possible extra frames and don't care about the extra $$$

To be honest, I think I would pick the 4790K over the i5 . I think a 4790k will perform better than a 6600k in games

Benefiting, sure, TO A POINT. The CPU only has to be fast enough to not slow down the GPU, after that it won't matter. An i5 is plenty fast enough to get most GPUs by

Try playing Fallout 4 with a i7... it will be infinitely better than an i5. I also mentioned the higher minimum framerates and more consistent frametimes didn't I?

And to a more extreme extent, if OP wishes to play at 1080p 144Hz, he won't bottleneck a GTX 1070 in the games I've listed above.

EDIT: Rise of the Tomb Raider is another good example of seeing an i7 excelling.

Well, the pc will be used for gaming and I have RX 480 8gb version in pc right now.

Mostly games like Gta V and I just want to do solid 60 fps+ gaming with no bottlenecking.

I am not really high on budget atm, so just asking for opinions. thank you.

P.S. Curently in pc is amd a8 5600k oc'd to 4.0ghz

Think of it this way. With the i7 4790K, you won't ever have to worry about upgrading CPU (unless there's a miraculous sudden jump in performance in the future - extremely unlikely though) for the next 5+ years and simply upgrade your GPU instead without any fears of bottlenecking.

The same can't be said of the i5 6600K.

Am I correct in assuming you already have a Z97 motherboard?

Ah, I was under the impression that you had a motherboard for the LGA1150 chipset and not for LGA1151...

Why not a i7 6700K then? It should be the same price as the i7 4790K.

Oh lol you are right. Price is almost same (few bucks of diference) and 6700k is SkyLake... well.. alright.

I mean is there another special diference ?

I hope this goes without saying but you'll need DDR4 RAM if you're going Skylake.

The i7 6700K is simply a marginally more powerful processor when compared to the i7 4790K. You might as well go for the newer platform.

Which one is better comparing between intel i5-4590 and i5-6500?

The i5 6500 is the better choice and the fact it's on a newer socket with DDR4 RAM makes even more appealing. But the i5 4590 is only marginally slower and still is a solid chip.

i would get the 4790K if you already have DDR3 RAM on hand...if you need to buy everything i would swing for the 6600K and fast DDR4 memory instead.

Well the APU is newer than the one in this laptop-and it uses DDR3 (albeit DDR3 1333).
