I am building my first PC for gaming, and I'm trying to stick around $2,000 or less for a smaller build (Mini ITX). The theme is Red & Black.

Here are the key parts:

Case:  NZXT Manta (Black/Red) Mini ITX Desktop

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

GPU:  MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB

MoBo:  MSI B150I GAMING PRO AC Mini ITX LGA1151

RAM:  G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400

PSU:  EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX

Go check out the full part list here:

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/VTYMFd

The only part that i'm skeptical about is the monitor.

So, do you guys have any advice for me? And PLEASE feel free to suggest different parts, as I haven't ordered any of them yet.

Why spend the money on an unlocked processor when you're getting a motherboard that doesn't support overclocking? Spend a little to get a Z170 board or spend less and get a i7-6700. Also, if you're going to spend the money to get a 1440p monitor, get a 27" one as that's the sweet spot for pixel density.

B150 motherboards can't overclock unlocked CPUs and the NEX series are mediocre at best. Get a Z170 motherboard and the EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2 instead.

The EVGA NEX-G is not very good and is expensive for what it is.  The EVGA G2, GS, GQ and B2 are good, same with anything from Seasonic or XFX (excluding the XT), Antec Edge and High Current Series, Corsair CX 400, 450/550/650M, RMi/RMX/HXi.

That's obviously the best :P (no seriously, this is probably as good as you can get with a $2k budget ;))

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Anther choice, changed the storage and case. The Phanteks ITX case is a really good design for 1/2 of what you were paying, got a much better PSU, and the crucial m.2s are just nearly as good as the samsungs, at about 1/3 the cost/gb.

well there's a 1440p 60hz monitor in your listing, so i assumed you were playing 1440p. its more futureproof in 1440p, but if you're playing 1080p a gtx 1070 is enough.

No the 1080 is overkill for 1080p gaming, so is the 1070 to be honest but it will last a bit longer.

I'll downgrade my monitor to 1080p, then. Thanks for the advice!

no need to downgrade your monitor when you can fit it into your budget, 1440p looks much better than 1080p imho.

I think, just so I have some money left over to buy games, I'll downgrade the monitor for now, then upgrade later... I mean, isn't that what PCMR is about? xD
