SSD detected, but won't format / copy

Cryptonite

Hi guys I have a 32 GB adata SP600 with me that detects shows all the files, I can even copy them, however it will not write to the disk nor will it format, now this SSD isn't all that old either. Is there a way for me to fix it or did it just basically do too many writes already (issue is I can't see how many writes it has done so far)

Hey :)

Could you show the full S.M.A.R.T. status of this SSD? Have you tested it with the official diagnostic tool from the manufacturer?

As you suggested, the SSD may have depleted its write cycles (malfunction or simply excessive usage) and entered read-only mode.

It may have also been encrypted or protected against writing in some way.

Could you provide more details regarding this SSD and its past?

Also, try accessing it via Linux.

I'll give you the full S.M.A.R.T Status when I get to the SSD tomorrow again, It was in a friend's rig for a year or two and it just started to not want to write anything onto it anymore, he wasn't formating it or doing defrags since I made sure he knew about the write cycles, and he was using it merely as a boot device (can't really be used as anything else) I have not yet tried any software from Adata yet, will try and find out what software I can use to maybe diagnose this thing.

Do run some diagnostics and post the results here so we can figure out what is the situation with this drive. It's good that you have access to the data so make sure everything is backed up as if the drive has some issues it may start to deny access to the data.

The drive could have simply malfunctioned and if it's still under warranty you should contact the manufacturer to get it exchanged.
