I am confused in how you install a new graphics card. I had bought a prebuilt system last year and I had just missed out on the pascal GPUs. So I am trying to get a 1070 in my pc, I know to install it but do I need to install drivers?

Also, I am arguing with a friend the difference between 1080p vs 1440p, any help, with both?

1080p is standartd 1440p looks better cuz more pixets but less fps. i would go 1440p with a 1070 tho. anyway i am probably not the one you want to ask for installing GPUs correctly seeing as i just take them out and then put another one in and install new drivers over the old ones and everything is just a ball of messed up and i end up uninstalling all GPU drivers and stuff lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You turn the computer off, unplug the power, put the gpu in the pcie slot, plug the monitor cable into the back of the gpu, turn on the computer, go to nvidia's, or amd's website or whatever gpu maker that you have, and download the drivers and install them.

Take the old one out, plud the new one in and the drivers should automatically take care of themselves (if you went from NVidia to NVidia) otherwise you may have to manually download them. Make sure to plug in power cables into gpu if required.

1440p = 2560X1440

1080p = 1920x1080

MOAR iz better.

When in doubt, re-format.

A side note if you are switching from AMD to Nvidia, use DDU to uninstall the AMD graphics driver before swapping the cards. Once you new card is in and installed, windows will automatically download some outdated version of Nvidia drivers. Go to the Nvidia site and download the latest ones.
