this is mostly going to be a work laptop but ill do some gaming on it and video editing and photo editing. I need to get a macbook (school regulations)

15 inch macbook pro retina -

  • 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz
  • 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
  • 256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
  • Intel Iris Pro Graphics
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • Backlit Keyboard (Int'l English) & User's Guide (English)
  • Accessory Kit

Or the macbook pro retina 13 inch

  • 3.1GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz
  • 8GB 1866MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • 512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
  • Intel Iris Graphics 6100
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • Accessory Kit
  • Backlit Keyboard (Int'l English) & User's Guide (English)

I like the idea of the bigger screen but it makes it less portable ( ill be taking this travelling) and the 16gb ram is nice along with the slightly better graphics but the extra price and less storage im not sure if its worth it

any help appreciated thanks

- SSUPD Meshlicous - Z170I - i7-6700K - Gigabyte 2080 - 16GB Corsair Vengance - 850 EVO 1TB - H115i ICUE Link- SF600

as you have a desktop, 250GB should suffice. I'd prefer the 15" screen over the 13", and a macbook isn't that bulky so I don't think it will limit the transportability

To be completely honest here. You shouldn't buy either one. Hold off as long as possible. These laptops are in dire need of a refresh and Apple are allegedly holding a Mac event later in October.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

How to setup MSI Afterburner OSD | How to make your AMD Radeon GPU more efficient with Radeon Chill | (Probably) Why LMG Merch shipping to the EU is expensive

Oneplus 6 (Early 2023 to present) | HP Envy 15" x360 R7 5700U (Mid 2021 to present) | Steam Deck (Late 2022 to present)

Mid 2023 AlTech Desktop Refresh - AMD R7 5800X (Mid 2023), XFX Radeon RX 6700XT MBA (Mid 2021), MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon (Early 2018), 32GB DDR4-3200 (16GB x2) (Mid 2022

Noctua NH-D15 (Early 2021), Corsair MP510 1.92TB NVMe SSD (Mid 2020), beQuiet Pure Wings 2 140mm x2 & 120mm x1 (Mid 2023),

Both models are using older CPUs............

The 15" is STILL using Haswell and the 13" is using Broadwell.

Jesus the school REQUIRES a macbook? Sound pretentious. If you are doing any video editing get the pro, dual cores won't do you any good. They are close in single core performance BUT well just look at this video

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

Get the one with a dedicated GPU.  But wait till the end of October to see if Apple releases an update to the MacBook Pro line.

It is an alleged mac event on October 27th. If you absolutely NEED it before then, I would get the 15" with the R7 M370X GPU. Buying it new may cost $2500......... but refurbished may be cheaper.
