Hey, you should be able to just reinstall Windows.  Or use a Windows disc and repair Windows.  Unfortunately Windows is screwed, components may be damaged especially the hard drive.  Try not to do that again unless you really have to.

THAT CODE IS A LICENSE KEY BRO

You should use a Windows disc for Windows 10 or whatever you use.  For Windows 10 it is free, just go onto this website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Download the tool and run it on any Windows computer to make a bootable Windows 10 DVD/USB.

Either way, what you said is true :)

Indeed, I didn't unplug my PC for crappy reasons either lol.  But if my server was being hacked and they were transferring my porn off my server... I WOULD RIP THAT BABY OUT AND SHUT IT OFF!

what you can use is dban to wipe it. You load it onto a cd, or usb, and run it as priority in bios.

Then you would need to download a copy of the windows iso onto a flash drive. Using the flash drive, you would reinstall windows onto your pc.

However, do that would in fact delete all pre-existing files on it.

Now, odds are nothing is damaged, and if it is, it was a random failure and not caused by suddenly unplugging it, but you will need to find a way to try reinstalling.  Odds are that's all it needs.  Since this PC is clearly out of commission for the time being, I would suggest trying to get medium from a store, friend, or other source.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

If you have a code then you can use another computer and make a Windows Disk or USB drive. MS has images of Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 on their site if I remember correctly. When you reinstall you can just enter the code when it asks. You might get lucky and you can use some kind of Recovery built in to the Windows disk.

Next time just make sure the computer is properly shut off before unplugging.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Couldn't OP just do a repair install?

Or would that not make a difference for hoping to preserve files?

Is there any way to fix this without erasing whatever might be on the drive?

I would disagree. If the hard disk was toast then maybe. The OP can try mounting the drive in a live CD version of Linux, like Ubuntu. Then try to copy data off. Or connect the drive to another computer and do the same.
