I've got a bit of a choice to make but I would like an opinion form people before making a stupid mistake

I've got a choice to either upgrade my current phone or GPU

I was considering either the GTX 1070 or the iPhone 6SE (both around the price of AU$600-700)

MY current GPU is a sapphire raedeon R9 280 non X dual-X

my Current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S 2

my reasons for the GTX 1070 is that I am starting to do a lot of rendering work and will give me more than enough performance for 1080p gaming for my current games & games I would like to play in the future, however I am open to go with the GTX 1060 which is AU$400-500 for the 6GB Model. (my current power supply is 850W so I can take any suggestions of GPU, if you need more specs, let me know)

my reasons for the iPhone 6SE is that my current phone is that old it is definitely showing age & I have bad experiences with android & not apple iOS as I have already got an iPad mini. I don't use my phone that much (probably because it is that old) but I would not mind a new one for some extra feature I can do later in the future id needed

I am open to suggestions for both the phone & GPU (e.g. android phone & AMD cards or lower end NVidia) and would be much appreciated if you suggest a good cooler for the GPU that would fit the type of case & fans I currently have (deepcool tesseract SW with the included 2 LED blue fans, I know its cheap but it was what I could get at the time)

Thanks LTT Forums/Group :)

Upgrade the phone. The 280 is going to be a good to serviceable 1080p GPU for a couple more years. The S2 is falling so far behind in terms of specs that it's almost a security risk to use one.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Phone. Your GPU will survive until you have the money to replace it.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Everyone recommending a phone, let me be the devil's advocate here.

You will barely notice a difference with a phone upgrade, performance-wise. The trend of the software is to become lighter and the hardware currently is simply a little too strong. Any phone with 1gb of ram and a dual-core snapdragon is good to go still.

The jump in performance from upgrading your GPU would be far more noticeable, imo.

~ Specs bellow ~

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit [UEFI]
CPU: Intel i7-5820k Haswell-E @ 4.5-4.7Ghz (1.366-1.431V) | CPU COOLER: Corsair H110 280mm AIO w/ 2x Noctua NF-A14 IPPC-2000 IP67 | RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 32Gb (8x4Gb) DDR4 @ 2666mhz CL15 | MOBO: MSI X99S Gaming 7 ATX | GPU: MSI GTX 1080 Gaming (flashed "X") @ 2138-2151Mhz (locked 1.093V) | PSU: Corsair HX850i 850W 80+ Platinum | SSD's: Samsung Pro 950 256Gb & Samsung Evo 850 500Gb | HDD: WD Black Series 6Tb + 3Tb | AUDIO: Realtek ALC1150 HD Audio | CASE: NZXT Phantom 530 | MONITOR: LG 34UC79G 34" 2560x1080p @144hz & BenQ XL2411Z 24" 1080p @144hz | SPEAKERS: Logitech Z-5450 Digital 5.1 Speaker System | HEADSET: Sennheiser GSP 350 | KEYBOARD: Corsair Strafe MX Cherry Red | MOUSE: Razer Deathadder Chroma | UPS: PowerWalker VI 2000 LCD

Only reason to get a new phone is when the applications you use are no longer supported by the OS.  As in the case of iPhone, when they are outdated they stop supporting them, can't upgrade the OS anymore and the software becomes to "new" your old OS.

Get the graphics card.
