whole room re-build-log (room, desk, wiring, rig, AND server) UPDATE: bonus gaming pizza build

manikyath

Please explain this to me...

Birthday: 1994-12-26

So you are close to 22 years old. Still living with your parents (I can understand that). But you aren't allowed to pick the colour of YOUR OWN ROOM?!?

When I was 15, I was playing darts with rambo style knives @ my bedroom door. (poked right through them) My parents werent happy, but if I payed for a new door when I would live on my own, they were fine with it...

well, i've decided since my parents are over-protective it's better to stick around until i have the means to head out on my own, and not (like my sister) have to depend on the old folks to get my rent paid.

and well.. i honestly stopped caring about trying to tell them they're not the center of the universe, since they seem to be deeply religiously convinced they are.

w1d3 "a bit after lunchtime" update:

the floor is mostly sanded down, pics added to the appropriate location, i do have to note something about the sanding machine:

hate powertools of any variety, i dislike how with a powertool all your strength goes into making the powertool not having a mind of its own, rather than actually achieving the goal.

this thing... is *the* perfect example of that opinion, it's the powertool equivalent of being a pleb that never danced before, and getting put in the hands of a professional dancer.

dancer / sanding machine: "okay lets go"

you: "waitwhatnowwherecisdvbsqvb" -flying in circles on the handlebars- :P

however, once you figure out how not to make the thing run wild it's surprisingly relaxing :D

I need to make a log like this now. Room and storage NEED a rework badly right now. Might as well get started on the storage because relatives "visiting" (and by visiting I mean coming over and leeching power, water and food from me over the weekend because they haven't seen me in a while, which never seemed a problem when i was still living with my parents).

Plus, I need a paintbooth real bad. And my emergency food needs proper sorting.

Time to dig out ye olde power tools and git to work. On Saturday.

5 layers of varnish instead of the usual 2 :P

wooden floors are amazing but they "live" and they need some care every so often.

on topic of inudstrial, have you considered getting industrial or medical grade rubber mats? that's one of the things on my list of alternatives to carpet to try out.

I have, actually, but medical grade ones I can buy locally are retarded expensive and kind of small

i found a shop in NL (probably not very applicable to you) that sells them wholesale for dirt frikkin cheap :P

(you buy by the roll, and barely pay more than what you'd pay for a few m², and free shipping)

Na. Only crap I can find is pre-cut in a retail store for medical accessories. Hell, even a new labcoat is expensive AF.

Progress is looking good o:

That Chinese RGB strip looks awfully familiar. Mine might be from the same Shengzen factory

the strip itself doesnt have branding on it, aside from 3M on the adhesive, but is seemingly the exact same strip every brand is using.

the remote is a generic off the shelf thing with a custom front on it

the controller is from shenzhen mtilux optoelectronics ltd. with a "clever" rebrand by "paul neuhaus" stuck to the side, not even hiding the device's origin.

the power supply is from shenzhen myixi power supply co ltd.

Gonna check my controller and power supply when I get home. IIRC the power supply is some generic white 12V/2A adapter (or at least I think it was 2A)
