The MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X is indeed a very good mid-range GPU if it's the 6GB model. No one can tell you exactly how futureproof it is, but it's surely way more futureproof than the 3GB model.

the term "mid-range" and "future proof" are pretty much polar opposites lol.

1060 6GB is a fine card for a few years though if you're planning on 1080p gaming at 60 fps.

YEP exactly ... 1080p at 60 fps thats  what i wanted

For 1080p @60+fps a GTX 1060 6GB (don't pick the 3GB version)  is at a nice pricepoint and should last for some years, a RX 480 8GB would do the trick, too it is performance wise similar (a bit less) but with better DX12 performance (atm) and a bit more VRAM (choose by pricing, look or maybe GSync Monitor or not) .

If you want to go for 1440p in the near future than a GTX 1060 isn't enough. Than you should take a GTX 1070, in my opinion a 1080 isn't very costeffective.

Titan XP. It's right there in the name, the P stands for "future Proof".

For now and near future on 1080p 60Hz Ultra a good 1060 6GB is indeed a nice spot. It has a bit more punch then the 480, despite AMDs in comparison better support for vulkan and DX12. Before this becomes actually mainstream you are 2-3 years further and at that time all current gen cards are basically out of date compared to the then current gen. All the games currently released are still build on DX11 and offer possibly support for 12/Vulkan, bu thats no guarantee they actually work better then DX11.

If you plan to go high with Hz screens or higher resolution a 1070 is however a better choice, so that would be more depending on your possible upgrade plans for the screen.

Take somehting like an EVGA, MSI or Asus is overall a good option from reputable brands.

Well out of the box clocks don't say anything these days, because GPU boost goes way over them anyway. What is more important is the consistant speeds under load. That is in abig factor depending on how good the cooling solution is. Less temps = more room for GPU boost. The Gigabyte isn't bad, but I find that their current used cooler is a bit noisy compared to the good cooling solutions from others while not even the best performing in temps. It's no jet and heater by any means, but it's a noticable difference.

Asus Stix is a good performer but also still  what louder and hotter then others, but has a overall good performance. The MSI Gaming variants are the reverse of the Strix. A bit slower, but noticable less sound.

EVGA with their ACX 3.0 cooler seems the best imo. Very good loads, temps and is even more silent then the Gaming variants. Still results also depend on silicon lotery, but my money would be on a EVGA for the current 10 series cards if availability is no problem.
